Catching Up...

Hey, hope you all had a great weekend. Mine was busy but good. Friday night was Abby's awards/end of year dinner for both marching and concert band. It was fun and they had a great slide show put together with pictures of the various march band festivals and the different concerts.

Saturday was busy as usual but the big thing is that... we finally bought a new TV! I mentioned months ago that we were ready to upgrade from our clunky, old 27 inch TV to a flat screen. It took us long enough to decide but we finally got one last night. It's a 47 inch and compared to the old one it's really big! LOL We had to move the furniture around and now we have this empty area on one wall. You guys know what I want to put there right? *grins* I can't help it. I see an empty wall and I think - bookcase. :)

Today was Mother's Day here in the states. Did I sleep in? Nope. I stayed up late Saturday, until about 1:00 and then woke up around 6:00 this morning and couldn't go back to sleep. Ugh! So I treated myself to an Entenmann's chocolate donut and got some reading in. Finished Getting Rid of Bradley by Jennifer Crusie. Very funny comedic romance. Then we went out to brunch with my mom and my brother and his wife, who drove down from Las Vegas. I had the most delicious chocolate chip/peanut butter muffin. Next time I make muffin I'm adding peanut butter. I have a friend who adds peanut butter to her rice crispy treats. It's very good that way.

After brunch we hung out at my mom's and then home where I dozed off while reading on the couch. So a very nice and relaxing day.

How was everyone's weekend? Read any good books lately?

  1. It sounds as if you had a busy but great weekend. Happy Mother's Day (belated), Leslie. And, WOW, that's a big TV! LOL! A guy's dream. *g*

A bookcase on that empty space would be my choice too. :)

I haven't been reading... much this last week (migraines), but I'm a bit stuck on the Adrien English Mysteries by Josh Lanyon. They're a bit addictive. :)

  2. Hils ~ it's big enough that dh doesn't need his glasses to see it. LOL

Happy Mother's Day to you too! Hope it was special.

Sorry to hear about your migraines. :( I've been lucky and haven't had any bad ones lately. Hope yours go away and stay away.

Ah, I've heard of the Adrien English series. The library has a few that I've put on my list. I'll get to them someday. :)

  3. Hi Leslie!
Happy Mother's Day to you.. and what a busy day you had!!! It sounds like it was all fun, though, so that's good.

Congrats on the big TV! I hope you have many a family movie night together. Good luck with that... I'm finding it harder than ever to get two kids to sit and watch a movie with Gabe and me.

Definitely fill that empty space with a bookshelf. Even Abby would agree to that, right?

I have been reading Lover Avenged by J.R. Ward for over a week now and just finished this afternoon. I tell you... I am ready for Lover Mine right now, but refuse to buy it in hardcover.

  4. Christine ~ I figure as long as I let them pick the movie and I provide the popcorn, they'll show up. ;)

I'm guessing there's a long wait list at the library for Lover Mine. I hope you get it soon. :)

  5. Happy belated Mother's Day!! Did you get a bookcase?!? LOL, when your birthday, perhaps if you hint it enough...

Youppi for the TV!! Your husband must be very, very happy!! All the sweat and effort and work that went for it :D

Ohhh, are you going to review Getting Rid of Bradley? I hope so :D That one was one of my favorite :D a real JC classic!

    Hmmm, let see, what did I read lately? I enjoyed In the Darkest Night by Patti O'Shea.... the NR, you've read and reviewed already... Something About You by Julie James, you've also read. The new Rachel Gibson is okay... Hmmm. No real suggestion to make ^_^;

  6. The neighboring town's library is the only library in my area that has JR Ward's books. According to the online database is due back in the library May 24, but I can't see the hold list. The thing is, because I don't actually LIVE in that town, I cannot borrow new releases for like a year after they come out. Crazy isn't it? This town only started allowing nonresidents to borrow their books a year or two ago. Very bad sharers if you ask me. I have a loophole, though. A very good friend of mine lives in that town so I'm going to ask her to borrow it for me. She's going to be very embarrassed about picking up that book for me, though. The cover of LOVER MINE is rather racy and not something she'd be reading. But she'll do it for me cuz she loves me.

    I hope! LOL!

  7. Christine ~ Have you tried requesting your library order Ward’s books? Or you could see if they could use Interlibrary loan request. There’s usually a fee but it should be less than the cost of the book. That’s great you’ve got your friend to help your addiction. :)

I know I’m real luck with the two library systems I have access to – county and Phoenix city libraries. Usually if one doesn’t have it, the other does.
