No Good Deed...

goes unpunished. Isn't that how the saying goes? Well, I tried. I really do want to decrease the tbr pile but the fates always conspire against me. I went by Goodwill yesterday to drop off some of the kids clothes they've outgrown. As I pulled into the parking lot I see this huge sign in the window ~ 50% Off Everything! As in everything in the store. I ask you, how could I not go in?

It was very crowded but I bravely made my way to the books. :) While I didn't find anything on my list, I always have the list in the car, I did find some potential good reads. The paperbacks were $1 and the hardcovers were $1.50. That's after the 50% off. I already have Kinsale's Flowers from the Storm in paperback, decided to get the hardcover because I just love that Fabio cover!

I've never read anything by Zoe Archer, Liz Carlyle, Janet Chapman or Katharine Kincaid. Brockway, Enoch, McKinney and Michaels I've read in the past and like. So, did I get any good ones?

Something completely unrelated to books. I saw this truly terrifying commercial last night. What are these people thinking, broadcasting something like this without a warning! Why, oh why, won't they think of the children, or the adults who get freaked out by by this shit.

And in case anyone was wondering - we're still shopping for the flat screen tv. We tend to take a long time with big purchases. :)

  1. I read the Zoe Archer when it was first published and liked it quite a bit. If memory serves there is some "cowboy speak" in it - but I remember really loving the heroine and the story was good. A solid B read for me.

  2. I would have stopped at $50 Off Everything, too!

I haven't read any of those authors, but I know Amy of Romance Bookwrym reads Janet Chapman and really enjoys her work.

I'm not even going to watch that commercial. I don't like terrifying stuff either.

  3. You have a list? Me too! I keep it tucked away in my wallet and pull it out every time I go to the shops. There's about 20 books on it that I've been searching for, for a while now.

  4. Wendy ~ I liked the title. *grins* Good to hear it was a B read.

Christine ~ I do remember Amy reviewing Chapman's books. Maybe that's why I started collecting them. :)

pssst ~ the commercial has a clown in it, I don't like clowns. They creep me out.

Danielle ~ I would be lost without the list. Most are OOP and hard to find. Many have been on there for a long time. :)

  5. Leslie, I read three Chapman's a while back and was surprised at how much I enjoyed them. Not wow type of enjoyment, but better than I expected for some reason. I've been meaning to get back to her. 50% off, I would have been there too!

You got some good books, plus the Kinsale on HC, yes!

You don't like clowns?;P You, Cal and a million other people... what is it about them?

  6. It happens to the best of us! Enjoy your haul, Leslie.

LOL. My 6ft 225lb nephew is still completely freaked out by clowns. (Fear left over by childhood.)

  7. Hils ~ I'll have to make sure to read a Chapman for one of the challenges.

I've always thought Cal was smart! :)

Renee ~ Knowing your grown up nephew is still freaked out makes me feel better. LOL

  8. Oh, that is just great!! Love it when books are so cheap :D

Hope you'll find some treasures in there :D

  9. nath ~ I love hunting for book bargains!
